Understanding your child
Every child is different and has their own needs. No behavior can be idealized or generalized. Getting to know your child has to be a process and not an immediate result.
Most teenagers want their parents to respect their privacy and do not feel the need/want to share anything with their parents. As parents, do not force your child to give in. If you are, what you’re getting is still probably not the whole truth.
The goal is not to know and control what happens with your pre-teen or teenager but to build a strong, comfortable, and friendly rapport with your child so that they feel like sharing certain details of their life with you.
This blog aims at strengthening this relationship by trying to break down the communication barrier and giving you an insight into how teenagers generally think.
It’s understandable that parents are busy and may not be able to extend extra support at times but I’d encourage spending time with your kids, doing something they love doing. Try to find something you both enjoy doing rather than doing something only you find refreshing (eg. going to a temple)
